Georgia Alumnae Association History

In early 2015, Felicia Anzaldúa and Nicole Alers discussed the state of Georgia as it pertained to the presence of Sigma Lambda Gamma. Felicia was, at the time, the Colony Intake Advisor to the Georgia Southern University and Nicole was the Colony’s Academic Advisor. They wondered how it might be possible to better support the fledgling entity, other possible future entities, as well as how best to support women who did not have the chance to join Sigma Lambda Gamma while completing their undergraduate studies.

Very quickly, the two realized that the obvious solution was to create an a new alumnae association. The two reached out to the alumnae that they knew were in the area. Several of the Georgia Southern University Colony rose to the call. On January 6th, 2015 a group of alumnae women discussed the logistics of creating the new entity via conference call. That group of alumnae consisted of:

  • Felicia Anzaldúa (#38, Beta Beta Chapter)

  • Nicole Alers (#52, Psi Beta Chapter)

  • Alyssa Bassi (#2, Founder of the Georgia Southern University Colony)

  • Bianca Nichols (#3, Founder of the Georgia Southern University Colony)

  • Cy’mone Stewart (#6, Founder of the Georgia Southern University Colony)

  • Raven Smith (#9, Georgia Southern University Colony)

  • Laniea Golden (#11, Georgia Southern University Colony)

These seven women would become the Founding Members of the Georgia Alumnae Association which was made official at 5:44pm on January 25, 2015.

As of this date, our numbers have grown exponentially connecting over fifty sisters of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Incorporated that live in North Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

We have held numerous events all around Georgia and our looking forward to continue connecting sisters all over the state!
